08/16/2002 Entry: "The Meals on Wheels Babe"

I forgot to tell you this funny Meals-On-Wheels story. I delivered Meals for Kiwanis this week. I knocked on this woman's door. The door was open, but the screen was closed. "Come in," she said. It was locked. "I'll get it," she said. She ambled across the floor from the backside of the house to the front. She was moving s-l-o-w--l-y. "I know it takes awhile," she said "but I'm doing ok for 87." When I went in, I saw a picture of her son on the wall. I know him, and his last name matches hers. "You must be Charles' mom," I said. "You know Charles?" she asked. "Yes. I do some computer work for him. I'm up in the Washington area all the time. My wife's from up Sommerville way." "Oh, I see," she said. "You know," she went on "your a handsome fella!"

I guess her eyes aren't too good either. At least I know where to go if I ever need an 87 year-old date!
