12/11/2003 Entry: "I bought a fire engine!"

It's a yellow Mack pumper. It included high intensity search light, two lenghts of hard suction hose, extension ladder, pike pole, and an ax. It's only missing one head light. Cost. $15 on ebay. I had lots of fun putting it together over the course of three nights. It's just like one I had as a kid. See, I used to belong to this model club. Every month, they sent you two models: one snap, one glue. I remember the first month was a Ford Mustang GT-350, and an F-16. One month was a fire engine just like the one pictured. I figured since I can't have a real fire truck yet, this may help my craving a little.

And as far as model building goes, I used to do it a lot as a kid. If you go to my folks house, in what was once my bed room, you'll find models of an Apache helicopter, an F-14 Tomcat, an F-4 Phantom, an A-4, and an F-100 Super Sabre, all hanging from the ceiling. (Susan bought me a WW II era F-4 gull wing Corsair once, but it was huge, and too heavy to hang from the ceiling.)
