Adjusting the Springs

Now, how do yo go about adjusting those springs? Ok, here's how you do it. On the inside of each spring cover, you will see a channel (see Image #1). Use a small, sturdy instrument, and push in the tab inside the channel (see figure #2). Then, using your other hand, twist the entire spring housing.

In image #3, I've completely tightened the left spring. As you can see, the left spring controls the forward motion. In image #4, I've completely tightened the right spring, or the return spring. You can barely get the beater to move forward! Now, you'd never really do either of these, but it shows the flexibility of the spring tension available to the player.
