The Transition GHOST

The next phase of the GHOST pedal I like to call the transitional phase. At first, I only thought these pedals came in black. Then I saw one that was silver/bare metal, but the spring covers where they funky GHOST green. I assumed that the spring covers were repainted. That’s not the case. A few of them have turned up over the years. Fellow GHOST collector sazemanek1 (from www.drumforum.org) believes the green covers came after the black model. He bases that judgement on the linkage differences between the black and the grey/green model. The black model uses a peened pin to hold the linkage to the footboard. The grey/green model uses star friction washers to hold everything together. Since the Classic GHOST uses the same star washers, that order seems very likely to me. The spring covers are the now famous GHOST labeled circular type. On the footboard, which is still smooth, we see the two holes around the heel. When you fold the pedal, the bass drum clamp turns around, and fits into those two holes, clamping the GHOST closed. Shelly Manne endorsed this version of the GHOST.

Here's a good shot of a Transitional GHOST.
